Shukaz & Juice – 2010

Just a couple of days ago (Actually, it was Mashujaa Day to be precise), I found myself derailed to this event dubbed ‘Shukaz & Juice’. I know your thinking what I’m thinking…isn’t it meant to be Blankets & Wine? Well…nope. Shukaz & Juice it was. And well, there was plenty of entertainment..Eric Wainaina, Atemi, Ma3, my good friend Locococomoco (aka Loco), Mawiyoo…and a host of up and coming guys who I can’t remember because I haven’t upgraded my RAM. (As in I haven’t eaten!!)

I decided to post a couple of snaps..albeit randomly.

Enjoy.

One of the challenges in shooting a night gig (especially a dimly lit one for that matter) is just getting even the image in! I have to thank my good buddy David Mutua, who threw in a few pearls of wisdom that enabled me to capture the 2 pics above.

Mawiyoo. Beautiful and talented. The end. (Oh, and we went to the same primary school..Nairobi Primary School). I had to gloat. Massage my ego a bit. Not that it has improved Kenya’s GDP but heck, we men are a sensitive lot.

Anyway….

This last pic..well, I just randomly took it of my high school & Campus mate Felix. Really nice chap. Down to earth and with a few nuts and cogs missing from his cranium but trust me, the guy is class. This one’s for you mate!

Felix, is that your chic by the way? Hahahaha. Had to ask..ya’ll look lovely.

  1. Shooting in the dark can be tricky. i am so glad that you are not afraid of doing that. i need to be as courageous as you.

    • hahaha..bro, like they say..the only way to deal with your fears is to face them. Thankfully, I also had a good pal to guide me. It can be very exasperating especially knowing that your only looking for one good shot out of a possible 30-100 taken.

The trick is to get the right shutter speed and exposure without compromising on the ISO such that you don’t get noise. Easier said than done. Especially if you are a Nikonian!

I especially like the second last one…the way it fades out towards the corners (forgive the layman’s wording)
